President urges promotion of Vietnam-Angola ties

President Truong Tan Sang has suggested Vietnam and Angola soon organise a meeting of the Inter-governmental Committee in order to enhance bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and investment.

Meeting with Angolan Interior Minister Angelo de Barros V.Tavares in Hanoi on October 21, the State leader expressed his belief that Angola will reap further successes in its national reconstruction.

He spoke highly of the two countries’ flourishing collaboration in health and education and asked both sides to increase mutual support at international forums.

The Angolan minister thanked Vietnam for its support to his country as a candidate for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations.
Briefing the outcomes of a working session between the Angolan Ministry of Interior and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, the official said the newly-inked agreement on public security and order cooperation will open up new orientations for bilateral collaboration in the time ahead.

Earlier the same day, Minister Angelo de Barros V.Tavares had talks with Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang.

Minister Quang hailed the Angolan delegation’s visit as a milestone in the development of bilateral cooperation in preventing crime and ensuring security and order in each country, thus helping deepen the traditional friendship between the two nations.

For his part, the Angolan minister congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements over the past years and expressed his wish for result-oriented cooperation for the interests of the two peoples.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged their views on regional and international security-related issues, particularly human trafficking, drug and high-tech crimes, and those involving the two countries’ citizens.

They agreed to increase the exchange of delegations to further share information and experience in crime prevention and investigation.

The ministries will also bolster ties in training personnel and protecting representative agencies and the legitimate rights and interests of their citizens in the other nation.

On behalf of the Vietnamese and Angolan Governments, the two ministers signed an agreement on cooperation in public security and order.
