A 20-km taxi ride in Ho Chi Minh City will cost you nearly triple the fare for a similar journey in Bangkok, according to data from a website that collects the cost of living in cities and countries worldwide. The flag-down rate of cabs in the southern Vietnamese city is around VND12,000 (US$0.54) and the ride costs VND14,000 ($0.63) per kilometer for the first 30km, according to Numbeo, the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide.

In the meantime, the figures for taxis in the Thai capital city is roughly VND22,000 ($1) for flag-down rates, and only VND3,700 ($0.17) per kilometer for the first 30km, Numbeo data obtained on Monday by Tuoi Tre News shows.
